Sangita Jindal

Sangita Jindal: She is another woman who is not just a corporate wife. She is the chairperson of the JSW foundation. The organisation has many projects under them that supports art, culture and heritage and restoring Hampi is one of them. It sponsors the Hampi Utsav Festival an annual gathering of local and national artists



Chanda Kochhar

Chanda Kochhar: The managing director and CEO of ICICI Bank, Chanda started out at ICICI as a management trainee. She gradually rose among the ranks as she worked in different areas like power, telecom and transport. In 1996, she headed the infrastructure industry group, but is mainly known for spearheading the retail business in 2000. Under Chanda's leadership, the bank won the Best Retail Bank in India award in 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2005. She also featured in the Forbes list of World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2009, 2010 and 2011.



BARKHA DUTT

BARKHA DUTT: Quiz any wannabe journalist about whom they consider to be their 'idol' and perhaps this is the name that you will hear the most. The daughter of one of Delhi's first women reporters, Prabha Dutt, Barkha has been around, breaking and covering major news stories almost since the very advent of broadcast journalism in India She started off with Star News, and later went on to join NDTV, where currently she is working as the Managing Editor. She has juggled the roles of an anchor and a reporter with equal panache. She was widely appreciated and acclaimed for her courageous and exemplary reportage during the Kargil War, in the year 1999. She has addressed major issues as an anchor through her television shows like We The People and Reality Bites on NDTV 24X7.



Neelam Dhawan:

Neelam Dhawan: The managing director of Hewlett-Packard India, she started her career with marketing at HCL. Neelam was not shy to jump jobs as has also worked in FMCG companies like Asian Paints and Hindustan Lever. She has also worked for Microsoft, IBM and eventually Compaq before joining HP. Adapting to change has been the mantra this leader and manager has stuck by.



Kiran Mazumdar Shaw

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw: A Rich Donor,Her 1,400-bed Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre in Bengaluru was set up to provide affordable healthcare and the poor are treated free here. Recently, she added a state-of-the-art facility section to it, developed by her and Dr Devi Shetty. The new centre brings under one roof the most advanced therapy modalities required to manage cancer and complex diseases. As in her other ventures, this one too used global expertise; and combined it with cutting-edge therapy options and novel possibilities of health recovery through regenerative medicine. Nothing but the absolute best will do for this businesswoman.



Bachendri Pal

Bachendri Pal was born in 1954 in Nakuri village, Garhwal. Bachendri Pal is the first Indian woman to climb Mount Everes Her first exposure to mountaineering was at the age of 12, when during a picnic she along with several schoolmates climbed a 13,123 feet high peak. t. She achieved this feat on 23rd May 1984. Bachendri Pal was part of the fourth expedition, named Everest 84. She was one of the members of the elite group of six Indian women and eleven men who were part of the group. Bachendri Pal was the only woman in the group to reach the summit.



Tessy Thomas:

Tessy Thomas: A rocket scientist, Missile queen, Tessy Thomas is the first Indian woman scientist to head the Agni II missile project which manufactures and tests missiles that can hit targets of up to 2500 kms. She started her career in DRDO under the guidance of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Last year, she was Associate Director for the Agni III 3500 kms project of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). A woman truly in love with rocket science.

Sheila Sri Prakash

Sheila Sri Prakash nominated and featured as the first woman architect to set up a practice in India by the University of Hanover (2011) and as one among 7 women architects of reputable influence from across the world. This touring exhibition of professionals is slated to travel from the University of Hanover to the University of Valencia, Spain through the summer of 2011.
